Vaccinations

Our vaccination services help protect your cat from common diseases and ensure a healthy future.

Vaccines provide protection from numerous, highly contagious and deadly illness. Routine vaccinations keep your cat and your family safe. Feline vaccines are tested rigorously in the veterinary industry and are proven to be effective and safe for our cats.

Does my indoor cat need to be vaccinated?

Yes, even indoor cats should be vaccinated regularly. Indoor cats have different needs than outdoor cats, so their vaccines and vaccine schedule may be different from a “higher risk” outdoor cat. We vaccinate against a variety of contagious and sometimes, fatal illness. Vaccinating your cat is the only way to protect them from several diseases that are otherwise untreatable if contracted.

What is FVRCP and core vaccine for cats?

FVRCP is a combination vaccine that protects your cat against the following viruses: feline rhinotracheitis virus, calicivirus, panleukopenia virus. All of the aforementioned viruses are highly contagious, sometimes fatal and are difficult to eradicate in the environment. Treatment can be costly and challenging. Felines of all ages, or felines who have not been vaccinated adequately are at risk of contracting these diseases.

How often does my adult cat need vaccination?

Adult cats will need a routine vaccination schedule that is tailored to their lifestyle. Your veterinarian will recommend a schedule that is best suited for your adult cat.

Are there any risks associated with vaccines?

Feline vaccines have been part of veterinary medicine for decades and are proven to be safe and effective. We use vaccinations from reputable manufactures. All of our vaccines are stored, reconstituted and administered to the highest standard. With every vaccination visit, your pet will first receive a physical exam by the veterinarian. Adverse reactions to vaccines are possible, but treatment is effective and usually painless for both pet and owner. At the Morinville Veterinary Clinic, we report every incident of adverse reactions to the manufacturer. We also have procedures in place to limit a reaction if your pet has experienced one in the past.
