Behavioural Counselling

Helping you discover the root cause of your pet's unwanted behaviours.

At the Morinville Veterinary Clinic, our purpose is to provide quality healthcare to our companion animals. Animal behaviour is complex, and changing behaviour can be tedious. Some behavioural concerns are directly connected to a medical issue. Once the medical issue is treated, the behaviour is often corrected. Our veterinarians and technologists are capable at handling a variety of behavioural concerns. If we are not able to help with a specific concern, we can make referrals or recommendations to someone who can help.

How can my veterinary team help with dog behaviour?

If you’re concerned about your dog or cat’s behaviour, your veterinarian has a plethora of training and knowledge to assist you. As pet owners ourselves, we can sympathize with frustrations or confusion.

What happens at a consultation?

Our veterinary team will first start by addressing your pet’s physical health and well-being. They may recommend diagnostic testing to rule out medical issues that may be causing certain behaviour. If your pet is otherwise healthy, they will work with you to identify concerns and provide you with specifics techniques for modifying or changing behaviour.

Will my pet insurance policy cover the cost of consultation?

Policy coverage varies from company to company. We recommend you contact your insurance company directly to determine if they will cover the cost of behavioural consultations.

What to expect after the consultation?

You should expect to leave a consultation informed and prepared with a greater understanding of your pet and their needs. Expect to invest time and patience going forward, as changing behaviour is a long-term process.
