Urinalysis and Fecal Exam

A comprehensive checkup of your dog to ensure they remain happy and healthy.

Urinalysis and fecal exams are other types of diagnostic testing. We recommend these kinds of tests to help identify infection, illness, and infestation.

What is a fecal examination?

A fecal examination is performed to detect an infestation of internal parasites. Internal parasites often thrive in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract. In order to perform a fecal exam, a fresh stool sample must be collected. The sample is then submitted to the laboratory, the sample is prepared for examination under the microscope. If eggs or larvae are present in the sample, a treatment plan will be created to rid your pet of these unwelcome guests.

If my dog’s urine test reveals a urinary tract infection, what can I do?

If your dog has been diagnosed with a UTI, your veterinarian will recommend a treatment plan to alleviate symptoms and the cause of the infection. Not all UTI’s are created equal. Sometimes, additional diagnostic testing is recommended to decipher the cause of an infection.
